The Gosport, Fareham and Solent Football League

The Gosport, Fareham and Solent Football League is a mens, open aged Sunday Football League which was formed in  2013 and is affiliated to the Hampshire Football Association Limited as well as being a member of the Portsmouth Divisional Football Association.

The League, which is based in Gosport, Hampshire, England, and accepts clubs within a 10 mile radius of Gosport Town Hall, currently has 28 Teams from 26 Clubs divided into three divisions meaning we have nearly 800 players participating in weekly Sunday football.

Brief History of the League

The League was formed in 2013 and was an amalgamation of the Gosport and Fareham League and the Solent Football League. The origins of Gosport and Fareham League can be traced back to 1904 and the creation of the Gosport District League which later became known as the Gosport and Fareham League.

The Solent Football League, previously named the Solent Premier League, was formed in 1987 from clubs of the Friendly League that started in 1971. In 1995 the Solent Premier League applied for affiliation to the Hampshire Football Association. It was subsequently suggested by the Portsmouth Football Association that the League become the Solent Divisions of the Gosport and Fareham League and the League was created. In the 1995/6 season the Solent Premier League became known as the Solent Divisions of the Gosport and Fareham League and after two seasons the Solent Divisions decided to once again apply for affiliation to Hampshire FA, as the Solent Football League. This application was successful and led, in the 1997/8 season, to the League's membership to Hampshire FA as well as the Portsmouth Divisional Football Association.
